Postponed event - Fundraiser Pub Quiz at The Waverley Inn, Weybridge

On reflection the summer holidays are probably not the best time to hold a fundraising pub quiz! 😬 😆 We'll update this page and the fundraiser when we have a new date for after the summer. Thank you, have a great summer and stay tuned!

The wonderful team at The Waverley Inn in Weybridge have so kindly allowed us to hold a fundraising “pub quiz”. The team kindly looked after Simon after his initial diagnosis helping him to rediscover his smile (serving him wine!). A “pub quiz” is not something they normally do, as it’s a magnificent upmarket Inn with outstanding staff, so this means the world to us. The food they produce is beautiful with a great selection of wines, beers and cocktails! We cannot thank them enough!

After learning from our initial pub quiz, the quiz itself will start at 7.30pm and end at 9.30pm, so I highly suggest you book to eat there beforehand and then stay on for the quiz and post quiz, more drinks!

Our great friend Anne, and her brilliant hubby Pat, will produce the seriously challenging questions again, but with only 3 or maximum of 4 rounds. The Quiz Master will be announced soon. It is likely to be filmed, and interviews will be held by a “main” TV channel and radio station.

All funds from this quiz night will go towards funding the treatment to keep Simon alive to get him the 5+ years which he targets to at least see his youngest son get to 21.

Simon has (deep breath!) Left anterior temporal Glioblastoma, IDH wild type, CNS WHO Grade 4, TERT promoter mutation, MGMT promoter unmethylated. Basically, the worst brain tumour with no current cure. NHS treatment is very limited and has little to no effect. So, private treatments are the only way, most of which are not available in the UK. We are targeting DNA based treatments as these tend to be the most effective and are researching which is going to buy Simon the most time. With costs between £107k and £200k each evenings like this are crucial! This is the second Elmbridge one and is vital to fundraising.
